Custom Rules Quick Notes
- Inspiration Points - In a lot of D&D games you get a few inspiration, I give 5 out per session to counterbalance my evil GM ways. Achem. There are a slew of things you can use it on like advantage, add a d20 to damage, bribe me for plot reasons...
- “Aether Points” - Spell Points - Rather than spell slots, I use a kind of spell points system. In this setting it's called "aether reserves" or "aether capacity", but really all that matters is that you have more versatility. There are charts below to help figure out aether capacity per level based on class. Some of the Star Wars stuff uses force and tech, but they are mostly spells. If you pick a class that uses those, we'll figure out how to wrap them into the same versatility.
- Feats - The other big custom rule is feat points. In normal D&D you maybe get one feat instead of an ASI at class level 4 / 8 / 12/ 16. In my games you get 1 feat point per level and can use that to buy feats and other options. If you use star wars feats, those are mostly going to be 3 points per feat. I might increase the cost of some or lower the cost of others.
- Items / Weapons / Armor - I also use a more modular weapons, armor, and money system to enable multiple options. Rather than cost per static weapon, we do cost by weapon damage and options. There is still a list so you can just buy something. I also have ranges for types of items. Don't sweat it much. I've also got an items list or you can pull from the star wars / 5e items lists with the basic idea that 1 credit or silver equals about 1 rael in cost. So a 10 gold item is 100 raels. A 15 credit item is 15 raels. If something feels wrong about that, let me know and I'll verify cost.
